Richard T. Ball
Richard T. Ball is a consultant and expert witness in the field of sports safety and risk management. He has provided consulting services to numerous school districts in Arizona and California, and has been an expert witness in several sports injury lawsuits in Arizona and other states. He has lectured and published extensively on the subject of sports safety and risk management and taught university graduate courses on the subject.
He has also developed educational programs for college courses and other professional development purposes, targeting
• Athletic administrators,
• Coaches, and
• Athletic trainers.

For more than three decades, he has been affiliated with state and national associations of
• Athletic administrators,
• Coaches,
• Athletic trainers, and
• Sports medicine physicians
He has also been affiliated with organizations which develop safety standards for sports and recreation, and collaborated extensively with experts in sports medicine, neurosurgery, orthopedics, biomechanics, and the design and testing of protective helmets.
Mr. Ball received a law degree from the University of Arizona in 1967, and has practiced law since that time. Since the mid-70's, he has litigated dozens of sports injury cases, including many involving catastrophic brain and spinal cord injuries, both in Arizona and several other states. Through this he developed knowledge and expertise pertaining to the nature, cause and mechanism of serious sports injuries, and the methods for effectively mitigating the risks of these injuries, which provided the foundation for his work in sports safety and risk management. His litigation background enables him to provide unique services as a consultant and expert witness to attorneys representing both plaintiffs and defendants in litigation arising out of sports and recreational injuries.
