Dr. Patrick R. Hannon
Dr. Hannon has been funded by the National Science Foundation, the Air Force Office of Scientific Research and the United States Department of Defense. He has accomplished on-site USAF summer faculty 3 month fellowships at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio and Brooks Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. Additionally, he has participated in a 5 month sabbatical at the Thomas Jefferson University Medical College (Philadelphia); Dept. of Neurology.
Dr. Hannon was a tenured professor at Northern Arizona University, College of Engineering and Natural Sciences, Dept. of Biological Sciences. In May of 2008 he retired from the University after 28 years of service on the faculty and now devotes all his time to Hannon Biomechanics Analysis. He was awarded Faculty Emeritus status within the NAU Dept. of Biological Sciences in May of 2009.
Dr. Hannon has addressed over 2500 cases in forensic biomechanics/functional anatomy and neurosciences injury/wrongful death issues and has testified over 475 times in civil and criminal cases in county, state and federal courts since 1988. Dr. Hannon limits his defense and plaintiff's work in civil matters to case issues involving serious personal injury or wrongful death. Medical opinions in wrongful death can be provided by Michael Iliescu MD (pathology). In addition to Dr. Hannon's strong physical science background in Newtonian mechanics, his strong teaching/research background in structural/functional human anatomy, biomechanics and human physiology set him apart from most other biomechanics experts with only an engineering background at the masters and doctoral levels. As such, he has a full understanding of physical trauma and injury causation from a biomechanics/functional anatomy/neurophysiology perspective.
Dr. Hannon has co-authored the first textbook published in the United States in forensic biomechanics, entitled Forensic Biomechanics,,(2006; 2008) Lawyers and Judges Publishing. A new edition was published in January of 2020. Additionally Dr. Hannon serves on the Board of Associate Editors for the international journal entitled the: Journal of Forensic Biomechanics. Dr. Hannon has also been appointed to the Board of Editors for the international professional journal entitled "Biology, Engineering and Medicine". He is an active author and reviewer for both international journals.
